Q: What is tog?
A: Tog is a measure that indicates the warmth to weight ratio of a duvet - the insulation value. For example, a summer duvet is a 4.5 tog and a winter duvet is 15 tog. 10.5 tog can be used all year round. To view our tog reference chart, please click here.

Q: How often should I change my duvets and pillows?
A: We recommend that duvets should be replaced at least every 5 years and pillows much more regularly - about 2-3 years for a quality pillow and every year for a budget pillow. Duvets and pillows build up large quantities of dirt, dust, dead skin and dust mites, so if you don't wash them every 6 months then you should replace them.

Q: I often feel too warm in summer and too cold in winter. What should I do?
A: This is a common problem. You should either have 2 separate duvets for each period or a combination duvet that allows you to clip together the layers for winter and separate them for summer. This gives you maximum flexibility.

Q: My partner is often too warm and I’m too cold. What should I do?
A: We suggest having separate duvets side by side so you can have a higher tog than your partner.

Q: I always wake up with no duvet over me. Is there anything I can do?
A: Absolutely. Buy the next size up from your bed - so if you have a double bed then  buy a king size duvet.

Q: Why do I often wake up with neck ache?
A: The reason for this is you are not getting any support between your head and neck which is then straining those muscles and causing discomfort. You need a supportive pillow that is well filled and preferably firmer polyester filling rather than natural feather filling.

Q: I wake up with a blocked or runny nose or my eyes are sore. How can I stop this?
A: It is likely that your pillow is giving you an allergic reaction from the dust mite that is living in it. You should replace it with a new one and if you want to stop it occurring again, consider buying an anti allergy pillow.

Q: My pillow is flat and uncomfortable and I can't plump it up. Why?
A: The filling in the pillow has collapsed. After a period of time the filling, whether it is polyester or feather, loses its springiness. The only thing you can do is replace it. Pillows with ‘Rebound’ fibre have high performance fillings which bounce back to last up to 5 times longer than normal polyester fillings.

Q: I think feathers are dirty and unhygienic. Is that true?
A: Not at all. Our feather pillows are washed and rinsed 8 times to make sure they are absolutely clean. We would always suggest buying duck or goose feather or down rather than any other types due to their improved cleanliness and comfort.  All our fillings pass the British cleanliness standard.

Q: If I want to keep my pillows clean, free of dust mites and nasty stains what should I buy?
A: You should buy a pillow that advertises its washability. Some pillows can be washed up to 60°c - the temperature that kills the dust mite. Alternatively, try a pillow that is treated with a protective barrier which prevents the build up of dust mites.

Q: Why should I buy a mattress protector when I put my old blanket or duvet under the bottom sheet?
A: Your body loses over a quarter of a litre of moisture per night and half a kilo of dead skin a year. It is therefore very unhygienic not to have a protective, washable barrier like a mattress protector. You also increase the risk of having an allergic reaction to the build up of dust mites.
