Our Slumberdown brand has launched its new, ethical ‘The Wonders of Wool collection’ – a range of naturally filled duvets made with 100% certified British wool, encased in a soft cotton cover.

Working closely with the team at British Wool, a blend of wool fibres was selected from different breeds of sheep across Britain, to create the perfect level of loft and cosiness for the duvets. As a natural fibre, wool has some amazing benefits like temperature regulation, anti-allergy and moisture-wicking properties.

When it’s hot wool naturally wicks moisture away from the body, helping to keep the body at a comfortable temperature, however, when it’s cold, wool fibres trap air in them creating a cosy insulating layer for a comfortable night’s sleep at just the right temperature.

The real beauty of wool is that it’s incredibly sustainable. Sheep will re-grow their fleeces every year – meaning wool is annually renewable and ethically derived during shearing season. What’s more, wool is a natural fibre, which means once the duvet is at the end of its life, it will biodegrade naturally, and won’t end up in landfill.

The new collection from Slumberdown consists of three duvets at different weights – light, medium and heavy. The lightweight duvet is equivalent to a 3-4.5 tog duvet, perfect for the summer months or those who are naturally warmer in bed, while the medium weight is comparable to a 7-9 tog, a more classic weight that works all year round. The heavyweight is equivalent to a 10-12 tog, for those who prefer a thicker weight for hibernating under the covers.

“We’re always looking at ways in which we can create bedding that offers comfort to everybody – and this new collection is a perfect example of this. It’s a great range that offers both ethical and health benefits.

“With its unique combination of heat and moisture regulation, wool helps you to get a deeper, better-quality sleep. Whether you want to stay cosy in the winter or need the natural properties of wool to wick away moisture on a hot night, this new collection is for you.

“We’re incredibly proud of this range; to be certified by British Wool is very exciting and means that all of the wool in our products is coming from British farmers. British Wool hand grade every fleece they handle, and all of their wool is independently tested to international wool standards. This ensures that all of the wool used in Slumberdown’s new collection is the best possible wool for bedding, making for a great night’s sleep for our customers.”
